Class Overview

This course will introduce you to all facets of the wonderful 1911 pistol and allow you to use your 1911 to its fullest capacity. We encourage you to bring out all your ‘best’ 1911s and see how they perform! We will teach you how to properly disassemble your pistol to clean and maintain it. Without practice and proper technique, the 1911 can be a challenging pistol to manipulate effectively and it is not very forgiving of mistakes – don’t let that stop you from mastering what ITTS lead instructor Scott Reitz says the be the best fighting pistol ever made!

Frequently Asked Questions

If you have not yet attended our Handgun 3 class then we would like you to bring a handheld light so that you can learn and practice the independent flashlight techniques. If you have already taken Handgun 3 or higher, then you can use your weapon light, but there’s still value in practicing with a handheld as well.

You do not need to bring any cleaning equipment, but you should always have some gun oil in your range bag – 1911s like oil! Your instructor will conduct a care and maintenance block with a 1911.

Absolutely! We have firearms available to rent for all of our classes, even precision rifles for our sniper classes. When you rent from us you will receive a full rental package that includes: the firearm, all necessary associated equipment (ear and eye protection, a holster and magazine pouch, etc.) as well as ammunition for your training.

We don’t sell ammunition to those who are bringing their own firearm to class, they will need to supply their own. If you need help figuring out where to purchase ammunition, check out our Industry Partners!

We only provide ammunition to students who are renting firearms from us for the sole purpose of training.
