Why Private Lessons?
Don’t see a weekend group class scheduled at a convenient time? Do you need to get up to speed quickly and you don’t want to wait? Are you coming from out of town and want to add a private lesson before or after your weekend group class?
Our instructors will be glad to give you personalized training at your convenience with any weapon system you would like (Handgun, Carbine, Shotgun or Sniper) or on our Force Option Simulator.
Private lessons are perfect for those who can’t attend our weekend training, need to satisfy a prerequisite course or want to train with their own private group.
How Does it work
Private instruction is typically held on weekdays (limited weekends are sometimes available) and can be held during the day or at night – low-level light training is dependent on the student’s level of experience.
Private lessons are held at our private outdoor range are 3 hours long.
You can book online for up to 6 students for a private lesson. If you would like to schedule a private group that is larger than 6 students, you can contact us to discuss further details.
Our private training schedule books up quickly so please plan accordingly. We suggest scheduling your lesson at least a few weeks in advance.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I rent a handgun for my training?
Absolutely! We have firearms available to rent for all of our classes, even precision rifles for our sniper classes. When you rent from us you will receive a full rental package that includes: the firearm, all necessary associated equipment (ear and eye protection, a holster and magazine pouch, etc.) as well as ammunition for your training.
What types of handguns and calibers are appropriate for class? Can I bring a revolver?
Single-action, double-action or striker-fired semi-automatic handguns are best for our classes. With a few exceptions here and there, the most common calibers are 9mm, .40 and .45. Occasionally a student may bring a .380 or 10mm to class and that’s fine with us too. However, .22 is not appropriate for our training.
Unless you are already fairly proficient with a revolver (loading, unloading, speed reloading, etc.), they are not ideal for our standard handgun classes. Almost all of our handgun classes teach to semi-automatic handguns. With that said, we do offer a Revolver Class once or twice per year and we can also teach Private Lessons with revolvers.
I don't own a holster or magazine pouch, can I rent one for class?
Yes you can and we don’t charge for them. With that said, if you own a handgun we highly recommend buying your own holster and mag pouch if you are going to commit to training long term. For Handgun 1 it’s not a big deal to use ours, but starting with Handgun 2 and on, we really prefer students use their own gear because it will be better suited to them and specific to their firearm.
A great local shop in Los Angeles to check out for any of your “soft gear” (accessories) needs is Tactical Pro Shop in Burbank – make sure to tell them we sent you and you’ll receive a discount! Most traditional gun stores in Los Angeles don’t carry such a wide variety of accessories, so other than visiting Tactical Pro Shop your next best option would be to order something online.
Can I buy ammunition from you for training?
We don’t sell ammunition to those who are bringing their own firearm to class, they will need to supply their own. If you need help figuring out where to purchase ammunition, check out our Industry Partners!
We only provide ammunition to students who are renting firearms from us for the sole purpose of training.
Are there age restrictions for Private Lessons?
Please refer to our Policies page regarding age restrictions.
What Our Students Say
“For the last few years I have been trying to figure out how to shoot long range. No matter what books you read, or videos you watch it is very confusing. Scott and his associate instructors took the mystery out of "Sniper" shooting. By the end of day 2 I was figuring out my own fire solutions and hit targets out to 851 yards. I would advise anyone who wants to learn to shoot and shoot well to come to ITTS to learn. They are professional and get you to where you want to be. No need to travel out to Nevada to learn to shoot. The best course is here in Los Angeles back yard. This is my second time enlisting in their classes. I plan to come back.”
Max H.Los Angeles, CA
“Who would have guessed that I would enjoy the Handgun I class SO much, that I'd be signing up for Handgun II! I'm not the typical fit, athletic type you would imagine taking this course, I'm just a regular middle aged mom thinking about owning a gun...wow, I was able to shoot a head shot at 50 yards on the first day and my accuracy was pretty dang good! Amazing group of professionals, they are the real deal! Best investment I have ever made, worth its weight in gold.”
Maria V.Los Angeles, CA
“Scott is unequivocally the most knowledgeable instructor I had ever met. He is decisive, humorous, challenging and knows his subject backwards and forwards. He can be tough when he needs to be and yet, very patient and gentle when the occasion presents itself. Being in a class with both Scott and Brett is one of the most fun experiences I’ve ever had in a class. He may be the tough former SWAT cop, but he was a real gentleman with us!”
Derrick M.San Diego, CA
“Just finished my third class with ITTS this past weekend and as usual, it was worth every penny. I'll keep going back until I run out of money!”
Jon B.Los Angeles, CA
“In my 20 years of law enforcement experience, I can’t believe how much I learned at ITTS in one class. It has completely turned around my ability to defend myself.”
Jason P.Atlanta PD
“It was a phenomenal class. I have been to a lot of classes from many different instructors, but I have to say this class was probably one of the best courses I have been to. Very few of the instructors out there have as much teaching points for law enforcement as Scott does. I found it very valuable and took a tremendous amount from the class.”
Edward B.Boston PD
“The best experience you can have. They really take the time to help you. And they will work with you no matter what level of experience you have.”
Alex A.Los Angeles, CA
“I took Handgun 1 this past weekend and it's not worth $400...it's worth way more. If your serious about learning from A++ instructors and staff, and care about the skills and fundamentals to shooting, you can't pick a better school. I was there Saturday and Sunday, and I was on the phone on Monday to schedule the Handgun 2 class. Best experience I could ask for.”
Max K.Los Angeles, CA
“I have trained with international tactical many times! I always have fun and always learn something new! Their courses are great for beginners and even better for upper level shooters like my self. Their courses keep you fresh and make you think about different scenarios that can happen in every day life.”
Raymond G.Los Angeles, CA
“I’ve learned more in one day at ITTS than I learned at other ‘high-end’ 3-5 day schools and at a fraction of the cost! This is an enormous bargain”.
