Our team

Experience Matters

When ITTS started in 1990, Scott Reitz and Brett McQueen taught all the classes. Now, more than 30 years later, we are fortunate and proud to have a roster of over 20 Firearms Instructors who teach multiple disciplines and bring decades of real-world experience to our training. Our quality of instruction is what has gained ITTS the reputation as being one of the world’s foremost firearms and tactics schools.

Our instructors are carefully selected by their performance in the field, their ability to articulate clearly and effectively the subject matter, and their dedication to our students. They have earned the right to be ITTS instructors because they are quality individuals. They come from large metropolitan police departments and specialized military units, and have all experienced deadly force/combat situations firsthand. Each instructor brings their own personal experience and expertise to our classes and imparts their knowledge to our students in an effective, safe and enjoyable manner, making each class a unique learning experience.

Scott Reitz

ITTS Co-Founder
Lead Firearms and Tactics Instructor
LAPD SWAT (Ret.)

Scott Reitz is a co-founder of International Tactical Training Seminars (ITTS) and serves as its Lead Firearms and Tactics Instructor. He is a 30-year veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department, where he built a distinguished career in some of the department’s most demanding and elite assignments.

After earning his bachelor’s degree from the University of New Mexico, Scott joined the LAPD and served in both the Wilshire and Van Nuys Divisions, working as a heroin expert and as a member of the Special Problems Unit. He was later selected for the prestigious Metropolitan Division, where he spent the remainder of his career. Shortly after joining Metro, he was assigned to “D” Platoon (SWAT), serving operationally for ten years before being promoted to Primary Firearms and Tactics Instructor for the entire Metropolitan Division and all LAPD advanced in-service firearms and tactics training.

In this role, Scott was responsible for advanced training across specialized units including gang enforcement, anti-terrorism, SIS, Internal Affairs follow teams, LAFD arson, and all 19 geographic patrol divisions, among others. Over a fifteen-year period, he conducted accelerated and advanced firearms and tactics training for more than 7,000 officers annually, maintaining a perfect safety record throughout.

Scott has also served as an adjunct instructor for the U.S. Department of Energy’s SRT III program and as an instructor for the U.S. Marine Corps Special Operations Training Group (SOTG) at Camp Pendleton. His professional experience includes training and operational collaboration with U.S. Army Delta Force, Naval Special Warfare Development Group (DEVGRU), and specialized air assets supporting special operations.

He is among a very small number of instructors qualified as an expert witness in Federal and Superior Courts in the areas of deadly force, firearms training, safety, and police tactics. Scott has testified and consulted in the defense of law enforcement agencies and federal organizations including the FBI, U.S. Secret Service, and ATF, as well as in numerous high-profile cases nationwide.

Scott has been personally involved in five officer-involved shootings, all ruled justifiable, with no resulting civil litigation. He has trained hundreds of officers who were later involved in armed confrontations, and to his knowledge, none resulted in an out-of-policy shooting. He has also designed and implemented training programs for numerous organizations that continue to demonstrate measurable success.

Scott is the co-author of The Art of Modern Gunfighting.

Brett McQueen

Co-Founder
ITTS Instructor

Brett McQueen is the co-founder of International Tactical Training Seminars (ITTS), which she established alongside Scott Reitz in 1990 with the mission of delivering the highest caliber firearms and tactical training available. From the outset, Brett set a standard of excellence by recruiting only instructors with exceptional credentials and real-world experience, while developing innovative training programs that addressed gaps or shortcomings within the industry.

An FBI-certified law enforcement instructor, Brett has trained thousands of students from civilian, law enforcement, and military communities. She serves as a lead instructor for ITTS’s Basic Handgun and All Women’s programs, where her clear, confidence-building teaching style has helped students develop strong fundamentals and practical defensive skills.

Brett is a nationally recognized educator and speaker, having appeared as a guest lecturer across the country. Her expertise has been featured on major national media outlets, including 20/20, The Dan Rather Report, and programs hosted by Peter Jennings.

She remains deeply involved in the continual refinement and evolution of ITTS curricula, ensuring that courses reflect current crime trends and real-world threats. Brett also coordinates and supports training programs worldwide, extending ITTS’s reach on a global scale.

Brett holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from UCLA and an MBA, and is the co-author of The Art of Modern Gunfighting.

Jordan Weiss

VP & Director of Training

Jordan Weiss has trained in firearms since 1992 under the mentorship of his father, renowned instructor Scott Reitz. He has served as a full-time instructor with ITTS since 2010 and currently holds the role of Director of Training, overseeing curriculum development, instructional standards, and instructor performance.

Jordan instructs students at every level—from first-time shooters to advanced students—across handgun, carbine, shotgun, and precision rifle disciplines. Known for his patient, methodical teaching style, he is especially adept at building strong fundamentals while guiding students toward confident, real-world application.

He is a California DOJ CCW, NRA, and USCCA certified instructor, a certified Glock armorer, and has successfully completed instructor-level training at multiple nationally respected firearms academies.

Jordan holds a Bachelor of Arts from UCLA and an MBA from Pepperdine University. Prior to joining ITTS full time, he managed security operations for the Los Angeles Dodgers. His instruction is guided by a deeply held belief in the lawful, effective, and judicious use of force for the protection of oneself and one’s loved ones.
